Fitness has played an important part in Jared’s life since fracturing the fourth vertebrate in his neck when he was twenty-one years old. With the recent news of early on-set Alzheimer’s in his family history– CrossFit also means protection against disease. Jared’s goal is to make sure his body and mind rust out before wearing out. He first started CrossFit in March 2012 and brings a varied background of personal experiences and coaching to CrossFit Waco: formerly serving in the capacities of assistant strength and conditioning coach at Stephen F. Austin State University working with football, soccer, men’s and women’s basketball, and softball programs; coaching high school football, basketball, track, and baseball teams; group fitness classes; sports focused summer camps, and private baseball lessons. Moreover, he regularly trains together with his wife (Kelly) as they compete outside of the gym for various rec sports, cycling, distance running, duathlon, and triathlon events. Jared is an avid outdoor enthusiast having summited 10 of Colorado’s +14,000ft mountains and was formerly a nationally certified challenge course instructor/facilitator. In his free time Jared enjoys fishing, kayaking, hiking, and hunting.
